Adafruit Compatible Motor Control Shield (L293D Motor Driver)
L293D is an integrated, high voltage, monolithic high current, 4 channel driver. Basically that means by using this chip you can use DC motors and power supplies of up to 36 Volts, thats some very big motors and the chip can provide a maximum current 600mA per channel, the L293D chip is also what is known as a type of H-Bridge. The H-bridge is typically an electrical circuit that allows a voltage to be applied through a load in both directions to an output, for example, motor.
– 2 interface for 5V servo connected to high resolution dedicated timer – no jitter!
– Can drive 4 DC motors or 2 stepper motors or 2 Servo
– Up to 4 bidirectional DC motors with individual 8-bit speed selection
– Up to 2 stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar) with single coil, double winding or interlocking stepping.
-4 H-Bridges: per bridge provides (current 1.2A peak) of 0.6A with thermal protection, motors can operate on 4.5V to 36V DC
– Unroll resistors keep motors disabled during power on
– reset button
– 2 external terminal power interface, for logic separators/ automotive supplies
– Tested compatible for Mega, Diecimila and Duemilanove
